Timothy Freiberg has been associated with Nessler & Associates for over 10 years.  He began his legal career working as an associate attorney at Nessler & Associates, where he assisted in pursing personal injury claims.  Although Mr. Freiberg has since opened his own business in Rockford, Illinois he continues to be associated with our office.  Mr. Freiberg continues to work with Nessler & Associates by helping the victims of sexual abuse of all ages recover for the abuse they have suffered.

Practice Emphasis

Timothy J. Freiberg practices primarily in the areas of personal injury, workers’ compensation, premises’ liability, automobile negligence, and catastrophic injuries. A significant portion of his practice is also concentrated in the area of civil prosecution of sexual abusers of children and those entities knowingly employing the perpetrators of such abuse.

Mr. Freiberg is also an experienced bankruptcy attorney, having handled numerous cases and is willing to take on bankruptcy cases for debtors in Illinois and Wisconsin.

Significant Cases

M.K., et al. v. L.C., et al., 901 N.E.2d 468 (3rd Dist. 2009). The Third District Appellate Court reversed the Peoria County Circuit Court, holding that the amendments to Illinois’s Childhood Sexual Abuse Statute (CSAA), which eliminated the statute of repose and statute of limitations, are to be applied retroactively.

Horn v. Goodman, et al., 2016 Il.App. 150339 (3rd Dist. 2016). The Third District Appellate Court reversed the Peoria County Circuit Court, holding that the amendments to 2003 Illinois’ Childhood Sexual Abuse Statute (CSAA) were applicable to Plaintiff's case and the facts were plead sufficiently to allow the case to survive under Illinois law.
